City Fair

The City Fair is where the town gathered to celebrate, for their entertainment, and to participate in various trading. Guests at Main Street Museum can explore the history of the City Fair with our interactive displays.  

Ramada Inn's Uncle Ben

Soaring over 29 feet tall, Main Street Museum's Butcher marks the end of Main Street and the start of the town's City Fair. Uncle Ben was the original prototype mascot for the Ramada Inn out of Effingham, Illinois

FERRIS WHEEL

Main Street Museum's original 1905 Big Eli® Wheel made by the Elibridge Company was revolutionary in the early 19th century.  This Ferris Wheel features wooden seats and a gas powered motor. 

CAROUSEL

Guests can enjoy taking a ride on our 1920's Allan Herschell Carousel featuring wooden horses painted by Ed Roth.  

BUMPER CARS

After World War II returning GI's needed a quick housing option which was solved by the manufacturing of prefabricated enameled steel houses or Lustron Homes. Main Street Museum's Bumper Car exhibit features the steel walls of a former Lustron Home.
